Wine Dinner #4

Rochford Wine Dinner

Rare Winemaker Series — Part 4
Rochford Wines | Yarra Valley
Hosted by Kaspar Hermann

Wednesday, 27 August | Rare Midtown
5-course dinner with 7 wine pairings + gin cocktails
Doors open 5.30pm | Event begins 6.30pm
$225 per person

This exclusive five-course dinner, paired with seven Rochford wines and a signature Rochford gin cocktail, offers a rare opportunity to experience the cool-climate elegance of Victoria’s Yarra Valley. Renowned for crafting premium Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, Rochford balances innovation with a deep respect for terroir.

The evening will be hosted by Kaspar Hermann, who will guide guests through a tasting journey comparing the broader Rochford Estate range with the refined single-site expressions from Isabella’s Vineyard, sharing insights into how soil, aspect and microclimate shape each wine’s character.

The menu has been thoughtfully designed to illuminate each pairing. A highlight features a 500g Collinson & Co T-bone—a cut that unites the tenderness of eye fillet with the bold, beef-forward flavour of sirloin. This dish is complemented by the 2023 Rochford Estate ‘La Gauche’ Cabernet Sauvignon, delivering bright cassis, fine tannins and a lifted finish that cuts cleanly through the richness of the meat. Alongside it, the 2022 Isabella’s Single Vineyard Cabernet reveals deeper layers of blackcurrant, graphite and subtle oak, creating a dynamic interplay of energy and complexity that lingers long after the last bite.

Guests will be treated to a multi-course experience showcasing Rochford’s award-winning wines. The evening begins and ends with something special—a refreshing gin distilled from estate-grown grapes and botanicals.

More about

Rochford Wines

Rochford Wines is a leading name in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, renowned for producing premium cool-climate wines that capture the essence of the region. Founded in 2002 by Helmut Konecsny, Rochford has built a reputation for expressive, elegant styles, particularly Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery draws fruit from four distinct estate vineyards—Home, Isabella’s, Briarty 9, and Toolangi—each contributing unique character and depth.

Rochford’s approach combines meticulous vineyard management with small-batch winemaking, resulting in wines celebrated for their clarity, balance, and sense of place. Today, Rochford stands as one of the Yarra Valley’s most respected producers, consistently earning acclaim for crafting wines that reflect both site and season with precision and finesse.
